INFORMATION:

L'ile de Re is situated just off the coast of La Rochelle. To get onto the island there is a toll to pay over the bridge. As we
came on the island we turned immediately off to a parking area and walked along the beach to an old French fort. There was a flak batterie of 3 x 40mm & 1 x 20mm guns to protect the the U-boat pens at La Pallice just across the water.
