Monument à la Patrouille de Douvres (Dover Patrol).

Details

This monument honours the sacrifice of French and British soldiers who defended the Straits of Pas-de-Calais during the First World War. Strait of Pas-de-Calais was then a highly strategic location in which transited the Allied supply lines. Monitoring and protection of the Straits was the case of the Dover Patrol . .

The view of the cap from the hill behind.

History: On the 25th Sept. 1944 the Canadians attacked the Cap and captured 200 very drunk prisoners. Prior to the attack over 200 RAF heavy bombers had bombed the area and Canadian artillery shelled it.
