INFORMATION:
Battery
Kerbonn 4/MAA 262 &
Wn number Cr346 is
situated on the Crozon Peninsular on the west coast of Brittany
and covering
the important port of Brest
where
large U-boat
pens were constructed.
The
guns covered the seaward and southern entrance to the port of
Brest.
This
Naval battery is very much like the battery at Longues-sur-Mer on
the D-day beachhead. Naval (MAA) batteries were usually placed
close to the waters edge to cover ports and other vulnerable
points.
