INFORMATION:

I doubt if it was intended to double as an air raid shelter in the normal sense, especially having windows in the gable, but it would certainly have had better blast and fragment resistance than a normal hut, so there would have been a greater degree of blast protection for anyone within it had an air raid occurred. Nevertheless the apex of the arch would have been weak in compression.
