StP255 Fort du Roule M.K.B. MENU
Fort du Roule is a 19c French fort building started in 1793 to protect the port of Cherbourg. The main fort today was built between 1853 &1857. 1928 the Navy built extensive tunnels under it to store equipment (Torpedoes). In 1943/4 the Todt Organisation built several tunnels and casemates around the front face of the mountain.
