INFORMATION: the Advanced Landing ground A1 St-Pierre-du-Mont, Ready as an Emergency Landing Strip, suitable for small observation aircraft on June 8 but opened on the 11th June 1944. It consisted of one runway made of Summerfeld Tracking and was mainly used by the 366th Fighter Group with 389th, 390th & 391st squadrons 9th USAAF, with Thunderbolts. Fighter Group begins arriving on June 17, 1944, flying P-47s from RAF Thruxton.
Battery B HQ, Battery C HQ 225th AAA S/L Btn arrives June 19 Battery C, 1st Platoon, 225th AAA S/L Btn arrives June 27 to defend the airfield.
