StP18 M.K.B. Oldenburg
A batterie of two 24cm S.K.L/50 guns originally from a Russian battleship "Rurik" which was in the harbour of Libau, Latvia, and was captured when the port was taken. The guns were removed and modified from 25.4cm to 23.80cm to be able to use standard German ammunition. Then sent to the island of Borkum of the German coast as a coastal batterie. In 1940 they were moved to Calais. 1942 casemates were built around them

There is a story here, just before we turned to go up the road to the batterie, we found this bunker. A young lady 'of the night' was hanging around the back of the bunker with her car. I was reluctant to take her in the picture, but in my haste this car entered the frame. Oh dear what we come across bunker hunting.
