INFORMATION:

History: the RAF started to build Charlton Horethorne in 1941 as a secret satellite airfield for RAF Exeter. It was a fighter base to help cover the Bristol area. Designed more as a landing ground than a full airfield. Six fighter pens, a control tower and two Blister hangers were built on a grass airfield. Just as it opened in July 42 for the RAF it was handed over to the Royal Navy.
