Inside the first floor, the stairs are the original WW2 model and I can tell you they are very steep to climb.

History : training for D-day commenced immediately and by the end of May the 441st was proficient in marshalling its gliders and tugs on the runway so that rapid hook-ups could be achieved and thus produce a concentrated flow of combinations.
