INFORMATION:

A view of the now redundant site.
Originally constructed in 1936 this site has subterranean concrete storage bunkers built into the sloping hillside with each roof being at ground level. As these bunkers were fed solely by a narrow gauge railway, there were no roadways on the site, just rough tracks. This kept the tree canopy intact so that it was impossible to see the rails and bunkers from the air. During the war the bunker roofs were covered by camouflage nets stretched out on poles. It was an exceptionally well hidden site.
