History :
The Liberators were used to fly antisubmarine patrols in the Bay of Biscay. Later the Liberators were replaced my PBY-1. In March 1944 all RAF personnel left and FAW7 took over the complete airfield. Several U-boat were attacked and sunk by FAW7 over its time at Dunkeswell. As the battle fronts changed after D-day some of FAW7 planes were used to attack V1 and V2 sites.
