INFORMATION:
The H612 emplacement would have had a field of fire of all this area in front of us and if a frontal landing had taken place here it would have done a lot of damage. 
As it was the Hampshire Regiment landed on Gold Beach (the lights in the distance) and advanced along the coast but were held up by the radar station on the cliff and did not capture Arromanches until 21.00hrs.
