INFORMATION:

Post WW1 the RAF needed permanent aerodromes to operate from. With the expansion schemes of the 1920s & 30s there was standardisation of building designs. This was based on good building and functionality. And even good looks was very important. In North Wiltshire the use of Bath stone in some aerodromes to appease planers.
The 'C' hangar here 1584/34 (1934) made in permanent brick with a span of 150ft, length 300ft and a height of 35ft with offices down both sides.
