History:
D-day loomed with now a Typhoon Wing arrived with Nos. 181,182 and 247 Sqdns. Attacks on V1 rocket sites were their priority. The Free French Wing arrived from RAF Perranporth with Nos. 329, 340 and 341 Sqdns. With SpitfireIX's. On D-day they were low cover and on D-day + 1 they shot down a JU88.
They were replaced by No. 142 Wing, Nos. 30, 303 and 402 Sqdns. Again with Spitfires. They stayed until August and when they left, RAF Merston, Sussex went into Care & Maintenance.
