INFORMATION:

There were three Belfast Truss hangers when war broke out and on the 1st August 1940, they were bombed. N0.1 hangar was very badly damaged and half was dismantled and the rest of it turned into the camp theatre.

The requirement for a fighter base of the 1950's was for 4 T2 hangars, 3 were placed on the bases of the original Belfast hangers and the wartime T2 across the airfield made up the fourth.
