Its the same basic design as an R622 but the entrances corners are re shaped to allow stretchers to gain access easier.

Hinge for a gate a 491P2 Gittertür (Screen Door). A gate not a door, it can be closed off and an enemy would have to break in the gate, inside is a close combat defence embrasure with either a machine gun, rifle or pistol an shoot through the Gittertür.

We could not get a good photo of the rear, I have no idea where this came from, but it must have been a few years ago as there are no trees and bushes growing up yet. You can see the added room on the right for a water reservoir/tank.

Auguste Bartholdivery was commissioned to build the Statue of Liberty in New York but to help pay for it several smaller statues were made to raise the money and Bordeaux bought this one. The Germans tried to ship it back to Germany but it was lost on the railway and post war, found and placed at Soulac-sur-Mer.
