The main defence is on the point, but somewhere around December - April. An R667 casemate for an 8.8cm Pak 43/41. These guns were becoming available in 1943 and were fitted into R677 casemates and would have decimated any landings on the beach.

R677 casemate
This is an R677 casemate using the design for bunkers that were built in built up areas. Unlike most bunkers that have rounded edges, these are sharp, as in a building. So that they can be camouflaged to look like a house. There is another at Wn140 Morsalines Le Hutrel, K.V.U.Gr St Vaast. To the south.

If a landing had taken place, these mortars could rain down 8cm mortar bombs in a 360° area around the bunker. More infantry were killed and injured by mortar and shell fire. than by bullets.

I think this position is much older than WW2, all along this coast the French had to defend their coast from the dreaded English. Over the years the English constantly attacked the small fishing villages. Just like the Vikings had done in earlier times.
