The railway guns arrived down into France from Germany in 1940 to protect the flanks of Operation Seelöw. 1941 and with Operation Seelöw cancelled, the guns had to go on the defensive and help cover this part of the Atlantikwall and Dombunkers were made to protect the guns. Before the Canadians arrived to capture this part of France in 1944, the guns were withdrawn to Germany.
