Embrasure R689 casemate Turm 1.
The five squares in the concrete on both sides of the embrasure, is where large wooden blocks would be cut and placed and then two steel armoured plate would have been bolted on with five large bolts. All this to add protection to the bunker.

Information

17cm KANONE 18

Details

A 17cm K 18 in action. A Krupp's designed gun, it could fire a 68kg (150lb) shell to a maximum range of 28,000 meters (30,520yd) and had a dual recoil mechanism.
The German 17 cm Kannon 18 heavy howitzers (17 cm K 18 for short), built by Krupp and Hannoversche Maschinenbau, were heavy corps-level guns. In the field, they delivered great damage, but they also had a great disadvantage of requiring a long period of time to tear down for transport, thus during the latter part of the war many of the K 18 crews sabotaged their own guns in the face of advancing Allied and Soviet forces to prevent capture; many examples were indeed captured.(Source: Wikipedia) The gun would have been towed by a half-track prime mover.
