Wn203 Pointe du Brick Tunnel
For some reason?? a tunnel was bored through the rock outcrop to possibly be used as an ammunition storage for some railway guns (Marine-Küsten-Batterie (E) Gniesenau) that were earlier on in the war (1942) able to come around from Cherbourg and fire their guns out to sea. Then maybe a link tunnel was added when Wn203 was added to allow a shelter from bombardment. The plan shows a sort of very neat tunnel, but actually this was the last thing we found. The levels are all over the place and getting down into the smaller link tunnel was not that easy and certainly not bored out smoothly.

The plan of the tunnel and I have no idea where this came from, but I have had it for many years now. It looks sharp, level and smooth, when actually its nothing like this.

In the centre walls have been erected almost as though a bunker was being built? The height changes and although high here, it goes up and down. We thought first it was an old railway tunnel. But the floor is not at all level and drops at one end.

This is as far as I wanted to go. As you see it is not an easy crawl.

I think this is where it would have come out just behind the R667 casemate in a trench system. Now cut off when the road was laid, the tunnel was filled in in that part.
